Vincent F. Cornelius has been installed as second vice president of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA). He previously served as third vice president and will be installed as president in June 2016-17. Cornelius is the principal of The Law Offices of Vincent F. Cornelius, with offices in Wheaton and Joliet, where he concentrates in civil and criminal litigation.
“I try not to paint with too broad a brush.”
This is the approach that Vincent Cornelius has taken toward race throughout his life and career. As a black man, the relationships he’s formed and connections he’s made have been dictated less by the color of his own skin and more on the character of others.
It’s likely this mindset that has allowed Cornelius, 49, to establish a noteworthy legal career, including his current path to eventually becoming the first black president in the nearly 140-year history of the Illinois State Bar Association.
DeKalb, Ill. -- Northern Illinois University College of Law is pleased to announce that Vincent F. Cornelius is the recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award for the College of Law from the Northern Illinois University Alumni Association in recognition of his significant professional accomplishments and civic involvement.
A 1989 graduate of the College of Law, Cornelius is the founding member of his own law firm with offices in Wheaton and Joliet, Illinois. The firm is general practice with a focus in criminal and civil litigation.
